The story behind the name

Its funny how 1 name can turn into different pronunciations, different words... and in my case, different meaning.

"Stephanie"

All my life, my name could be broken up into 3: Steph-pha-nie & creatively, this is how it went.

"Steph"
Common. Most people I know end up calling me this for short. Even people I barely know.

"Phanie"
A couple of friends in high school called me this.

"Fern Leaf"
I am guessing because of the Pha?

"Stephie"
My parents calls me this. Now even my boss.

"Stif Stef"
1 colleague calls me this. Its a long story. To cut it short, this colleague & a client used to make fun of me. So 1 day, I said STIF! & they said wth is STIF? I said "Set The Innocent Free"! So yes, thats how the name came along.

"Nenek"
Mom used to call me this when I was younger. Maybe cause I was like one.

"Granny"
Come to think of it, some of my high school friends called me granny cause I used glasses.

"Li Hwa"
Yes, my chinese name.

"Olive"
My uncle till this very day still calls me that because I was so skinny "before" (yes before) that he thought I looked like Popeye's gf. & my uncle is a sailor.

There should be more, but this are the ones I can think of.

Now, going into the story behind the name Bunny. Most people wonder why ALL my college mates calls me Bunny. So here it is.

"Panie"
Not PHanie but Panie. My brother & sisters call me this. & also 2 of my cousins.
My sister's ex bf thought she called me Penyu.

Anyway, 1 day during my first year in college, my group of mates came over to my house to watch a movie for an assignment. Then my sis called me "PANIE" & they all thought she called me BUNNY. So yes, simple as that. From that instant, everyone in college called me Bunny. & I got use to it.

If you ever hear my high school mates calling me Honey Bunny, its totally for a completely different reason from the above.
My bf's name in my handphone up till this very day is "Honey Bunny" but no, I do not call him that. When they were going through my hp during school days, they saw it & started using it to make fun of me.

So, thats how the name Bunny came about & thus "I Killed The Bunny"

The End

A after 3 months update

It has really been awhile since I last wrote anything in here let alone visit this blog. Not sure if I still have readers.

A lot has happened since then. So this will be a squeeze-everything-in entry.

To kick start, the most memorable memory of 2009: My godma passed away & finally returned to him.

It has been 6 years since she discovered she had breast cancer but fought it & got through. A year ago, it came back & was much more aggressive with its attack. To cut things short, she went away on April 16, 2008 at 10.55pm. We were all there with her.

During the funeral mass, I was asked to deliver her eulogy. Reason was:
1. I am her god-daughter. My godma didn't have any children.
2. All her brothers & sister didn't want to do it because they would get emotional & start weeping on the alter.

So, everyone thought I would be the "Cool Cat". Little did everyone know, I started bursting half way & I made all my family members cry in church.

Here was some stuffs I mentioned:
"She was one who never never forgets our birthday & would take the time to call us and wish us and buy something for us. Every year during festive seasons, when we are all back in Malacca, her voice would be ringing in our ears with “Wipe the windows! Change the curtains! Mop the floor! It’s already 10am! Wake up! Get up!” and how we often dragged out feets to follow her instructions and avoid eye contact with her. How during Christmas she knew what we would like for our Christmas presents and during CNY she would say “Soja me & you shall get your ang pow” and because of money, we would willingly do it & give her hugs & kisses. Or when Mervyn slouched as he walked and she would hit his back, scold him and we would all giggle from behind"

Ko Seh, I will truly miss you...

CNY 2008 during visiting. Thats her in bright orange, the shortest among all.

During my Bro's wedding, Oct 18, 08. With her husband & nieces.

CNY 09.

Moving along, occasion by occasion.
One of my really good friend during high school got married on the 1st March. Ms Wendy Choy. The first among us. Even cut Delicia's line who is getting married this September.

Here are some pics:

The girls of SMSJ year 02
Clockwise: Sher Leen, Delicia, Yin Yi, Me, Christine, Su Ting, Siang Ling & Xiao Wei

The guys & girls present.

Everyone including the newly weds.
Wish them happiness.

Another good friend of mine also got married on the 22nd March. Ms Cassandra. Same case as above, she cut queue. Rinee was supposed to be married first but her wedding is only on July 26.

But I am extremely happy for her...

The newly weds.

Love them!

I am 24! Yes, next was my bday on 26th April.
You know how when you were young, you wish to grow up faster & how people at the age of 24 seems so OLD! & we thought the ideal age to get married was before 25. Now that I am 24, it sucks!!

The day before my bday, went to do my hair with the wifey. & I straightened my hair. Yes yes, my hair was already straight why waste money... It wasn't straight, my hair was wavy!

Now its nice & straight. lol

& I bought the best ever bday present for myself!!! My burberry bag... *hearts!*
& the watch was from the boyfriend which I was eye-ing the moment I saw it. *double hearts!*

DKNY delicious from the brother & sis-in-law. Have been wanting this like forever.

& yes... Coach wristlet from the wifey (Yin Yi) & Wendy Choy!! *triple hearts!*
If you realize, everything is gold this days. Kinda like in a gold phase now.

Just last week, went on a company trip to Bangkok! Its a yearly trip & I am still loving it!
Here are some pictures. My facebook has more.

Us at Wat Pho

We went to Sirocco!! The place is utterly gorgeous!!

Not a clear/nice picture but wanted to show the amazing view of Bangkok.

Okay, thats al folks. Still not really in a blogging mood. Its a hit & run entry.

Cheers!

CNY 2009

GONG XI FA CAI!

Chinese New Year this year came as fast as it passed (though its not really over yet). As usual, CNY was celebrated in Malacca as thats where my dad is from and relatives are still there. Grandparents are no longer around and my dad has 7 siblings with 6 of them in KL now and only 1 remained there.

To cut things short, its the same routine every year but it never gets boring. On the eve, its steamboat dinner.

On CNY day, everyone rushes for the toilet. The Malacca house is empty and we only use it during occasions like CNY, Christmas (not anymore), All Souls Day, Weddings, etc. So during CNY, there are like 20-30 people in 1 house and thats when toilets are a bit of a problem.

Church in the morning and visiting till lunch time is the routine.

My Family. Big sis not around....yet!

With my Godma

The 2 aunties (dad's sis) & the nieces & in-laws.

Picture of the day.

My sister came down in the afternoon on the first day. Wheee!

After gambling and stuffing our faces, came back down to KL on the 3rd day after lunch at aunty's house.

So yes, that's my CNY. Hows yours?

The best of 2008

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2009! YOU ARE FINALLY HERE!
Yes, I know I am about 1 week lagging but decided to update my blog today to rekindle my 2008.

Overall, I must say that 2008 was a really satisfying year with full of achievements, memory & joy.
Have decided to do a quick summary on the thinks I can remember that made 2008 a great year.

1. I visited China, Hang Zhou & Shanghai I love the country tremendously!

2. In just over 1 year, I went to Bangkok again for the 3rd time. & wouldn't mind going back there again & again!

3. I travelled around Malaysia with the boyfriend to Penang, Langkawi & a day trip to PD.

4. I had the best birthday in 2008 because I got to celebrate it with every person that matters to me in my life...& all in separate occasions.

5. I bought my very first asset & am still loving it...& cleaning it.

6. My beloved brother got married to someone he has been "drooling" over since high school & she is the best sis-in-law anyone could ever ask for.

7. My best girlfriend got engaged to a guy who fits her perfectly at every corner....& I got to be one of her "hantaran" girls.

8. I met Zang Toi live in person during his fashion show in Malaysia.

9. I met Air Supply live in Genting - which is also another trip with the boyfriend. They were awesome. Now if only Micheal Buble would come down & everything would seem complete.

10. I bought a new handphone & so did the boyfriend!

11. Me & the boyfriend celebrated our 8th year anniversary.

12. In terms of work, couldn't ask for more as well. I got 2x pay increase, a promotion & 2x bonus during mid-year & end-year.

So yup, I hope 2009 will be just as great.
For me & for you.

Cheers!
